help with whatever may be wrong with the sound system

The JVC sound system started now lighting up when turning on some time ago. Then it became even harder to get it turned on so we began to just leave the sound on in order to have sound. Now we cannot turn it on. There is a green light on the system that needs to stay on. You can use the remote to turn the system on the green light comes on and immediately goes off. What is the problem? Have there been others who have had this problem?
