Lens cap flashing, won't record video

I have a similar problem to other posters. When I turn on the unit "Lens Cap" flashes and it will not record video only sound. I have no idea what happened to make it do this. I already tried the "Cam reset" but that did not work. Is there an easy fix or do I now have a very expensive tape deck/door stop. Thanks Joshua
