Although I am unaware of the brand / model of camcorder that is being referred to, it should be said that many people find problems with HDD models, and although not by any means exclusively the case, but often its caused by the user letting the battery run down on them whilst carrying out some operation, resulting in the drive getting corrupted. (a flaw of the portable HDD system!) About the only thing that can be tried (should it allow you) is the "drive clean up" facility, as if that doesnt make any difference then its a service job which can prove sometimes to be a costly exercise.
