radio does not work

wired in radio to car and it worked first time. Then when I made it secure the cd player made a noise and thats it. I have nothing apart from I can put a cd in the slot but no music and when the eject button is pushed it returns the cd. I have checked car fuse and fuse at back of radio and both seem to be fine, checked wiring and pretty sure its correct. any suggestions?
