It works now

The lighning struck nearby and my tv stopped working. I tried to put it back on but to no avail. The Dishnet was still working and both were on a power bar. So I thought it was dead. I unplugged it and left it there, plugged it to another power source and same, no power to the TV. Left it like that and went out looking for a TV tonight. Came back about 2 hours after and the TV is ON!!!! is this normal? will it keep up like this or is it the end? does it have a feature inside that does this? it smelled really bad in the house like burned plastic when this happened. Can somebody please help me? is this a fire hazard?
