Picture is hardly visible on LCD

I am not sure what happened but the LCD shows very dim pictures, whether they are stored ones or if I try to take a new shot. The LCD brightness setting in on "Normal". I tried the "Bright" setting but with hardly any improvement. Anyone has an idea of what could be wrong?
