Display

I am trying to copy from my JVC GR SXM 740 to a dvd recorder. Everything is working fine except I get the display copying also and I can't figure out how to take it off (the little tape symbol, as well as the tape time). Can you help me? I have tried every button on the JVC but none of them seem to give me just the picture I recorded...the tape time in the upper right corner is annoying and unfortunately it records to the dvd as well.
