Re: Sony DSC MVC camera repairs

I have a sony cybershot dsc- s40 that won't work. It will turn on but the screen remains white and I can't control the zoom/ take photos, it basically won't do anything apart from be on. Is there a chance it could be fixed? also how much would it roughly cost if you can fix it?

  I have the exact same problem. The camera is on, but the LCD is white. I can take pictures, though.

    I used to be able to take pictures but i tried it the other day and it won't now. Have you got any ideas whats wrong with it. One person said that if I sent it away it would cost 85$ to fix it.

      No, I have no idea what's wrong with it. We did not drop it or nothing. It happened for the first time during my daughter's ballet recital -- luckily I was still able to take at least some useful pictures with it. Then the problem went away, but on Monday I started having problems again. I've found a few people online who appear to have the same problems with the LCD of this camera. Most say that there is probably nothing you can do with it and Sony's website says the basic charge for repair would be $111 plus tax. You can almost get a new camera for that....

  Mine does this too. I found if you place your left thumb on the metal frame to the left of the LCD and your right thumb on the ON in sony under the lcd screen and press hard simultaneously... it corrects the problem.
