Re[11]: JVC service or questions

deane keenan Posted Jun 22, 2006, in response to:peevi

Hi, I also have the same problem as all you guys. I have a 508 sub, it has 8pin din. I really want to get it working, I have pulled the main unit out, hoping (like you guys to work out the pins) My way of thinking is that the 8 pins, 3 at the top 3 middle and 2 at bottom, the 2 botton ones would be for the power switch. I was going to try and connect a 3.3v, 5v, 9v, or 12v dc power to the 2 bottom pins and hope that the unit will switch on. My other idea was, that when the main unit is switched on, it compleats a circuit, and then switches on the sub. Any suggestions would be great. thanks Deane. New Zealand.

Deane, Been away from the computer for awhile and just noticed your input on this subject. I just bought a TH-M505 centre unit. Still no cable though. I did try a 8 pin to 8 pin cable I had from a Mac computer. But it didn't work either but i think that it is a serial cable and would have some wires crossed for communication to a modem. I did check with JVC here in Canada and found out that the cable would cost $45 cdn to replace. Too rich for my blood. Might try cutting the cable that I have and reversing some of the wires. If the set of 2 pins is for the relay we might be in luck. Will let you know further. PanamaRed
