I don't remember the exact cost since it's been a while since the Sony repairman was here, but I remember it was a couple thousand for the new panel according to him. I do know that for an even older Fujitsu model, a new panel was $3000. Recently, my friend had his panel fail on his Fujitsu and that was the price quoted for a replacement panel from Fujitsu. As far as actually replacing the panel, that isn't a terribly difficult thing, as long as you are careful and keep track of screws and where boards go. But it really isn't worth the cost. You're better off parting it out and getting a new plasma.
