Different Formatted Tape

I have had this camcorder for several years and have really enjoyed it. Now all of a sudden it says "Different Formatted Tape"> I tried everything and still get the same screen everytime I turn it on. I have changed the battery. Turned it off and left it for a while. I even bought a new JVC cassett. Nothing seems to work. Going on vacation. Can anyone help? I know it is pretty old, but I really like it. Thanks
