TV won't turn on

I am having the same problem, it seems, as everybody else in here. My TV won't turn on. The little red light lights up for a mili-second, but doesn't stay on. Does anyone know what the parts name was that was mentioned before? We bought a new TV, but I hate to see a perfectly good 32" go to waste.
