E04 Unit in safeguard mode..remove and reattach battery

If anyone has any idea how to correct this problem, please let me know. This message is displayed even when camera is hooked to electric and not using a battery. I am supposed to get a phone call from JVC within 5 days...am I wasting my time waiting on that call?
