Ensure that NONE of the +/- pairings are "touching" each other. The PROTECT message is a safety mechanism built into the receiver to prevent shorting out the motherboard when you accidentally cross the frequencies that bounce between the + and - side of your speaker cable. Look top to bottom or left to right (however your speaker wire connects to your receiver). Make sure the Black/Red, pos/neg pairings are NOT touching.

HI, My Sony receiver does exactly the same thing only it flashes for no apparent reason. The 'PROTECT' message comes on randomly, sometimes when I've been listening to music for a while, sometimes as soon as I start it up. The message appears even when there's nothing at all plugged into the receiver. The only way to make it go away seems to be unplugging the thing and waiting a couple of hours. Then it will turn on. Its still under warrantee for me so I think I'll try and take it back. David but i have unhooked the wires and it still flashes protect... i alos cleared the presets and it still flashes. how do i make it go away? |
