Video Camera Recorder as a Webcam?

Is it possible to set up a Digital Video Recorder to use as a webcam. I am totally ignorant about these things but thought I would ask people that might know. I have a Sony Digital DCR-TRV140.

    yes you can some sony will have usb webcam fonction buildin just plug chose usb stream in menu if not you can still buy a program for firewire webcam emulation i hope it helping you bye
