Can download still images to my PC,but cannot do same for video.

I have just bought a GR-D270EK camcorder.I can record still images and video images and see them in Playback mode,however when I try to download them to my Pc or laptop,I can only view the still images.I feel as if I am missing something really simple but, for the life of me I cannot understand what I am doing wrong.Any ideas?
