Re: JVC service or questions

Jerry Lowe Posted May 22, 2006, in response to:Stacy Sample

I have a JVC AV-56WP30 TV. I have had it since 2002 and have had no problems with it until now. Recently the TV flickers very bad. It is only on an input source (i.e. The menus and convergence screen never flicker). It does not matter which input source I use it does it on all including the coaxial input. I have not equipment to test the DVI input so I am not sure about that one. I have tried to remove what boards I can and reseat them. I even found a small board (I could not begin to describe which one but it is the smallest daughter board plugged into the main board on the left when facing from the back of the set) Every time I tapped this board even a little the picture would flicker. I pulled the board and tried to re-solder as many connections as possible but this did not make any difference. I suspect it could have been caused by me dropping one of my main tower speakers against the side of the set. It hit hard enough to crack the plastic case of the TV. The problem did not start immediately following this but at least a month or so later. Should I replace the board I found or is there another possible cause? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated! Please send your reply via email if possible.
