JVC AV-56WP74

Red Convergence wavy and will not sync. How to seperate STK392-110 from heat sink.

I have a convergence problem on my JVC AV-56WP74. It is less than 3 years old. From reading the forums it looks like I need to replace IC804, part STK392-110. JVC says the part is $79.00, but I have seen the same part designator STK392-110 on other electronics websites for $5.99. Are these parts different (as the price would suggest) or is JVC pulling a fast one with its 'authorized' parts? Also, I notice that the old STK392-110 is either glued or some how fastened (I already took the screws off) to the heat sink. Any advice on how to seperate the 2?

Hey Josh, did you get the convergence fixed on your AV-56WP74? Mine is about 2 yrs. old and suddenly the RED went way out of sync. I came across with your post while trying to research for the cause. Normally you would pry the STK with a box cutter to separate it from the heat sink. Then use silicon paste or equivalent when replacing new part. Anyway, I am switching the 2 STK392-110 and see what happens? I had a feeling that the culprit is the IC103 (eeprom) on the Digital Convergence Board. Let me know what component part failed on yours:)
