Setting the timing of the face plate.

Having changed the faceplate ribbon cable, the faceplate motor was removed. Now the unit fails to open / close the flip front properly. Goes most of the way then slowly judders back and forth (frequency of 1 second). I have to remove the power to stop it. I have tried various methods but to no avail. Help. I need to fix this before i can get the unit decoded. Thanks in advance. Gary
