Re: Sony fm receiver STR-AV460

Gavin Shaler Posted May 18, 2006, in response to:Jacqueline Brooks-Addy

I have the exact same model stereo system you have. I'm not quite sure you can find any compatible parts for your system. To be honest with you, the STR-AV460 model is obsolete, therefore you are surely going to have a difficult time looking for any part(s) for it. But I can tell you that if your system does not come out of stand-by, it may have been exposed to water or had a malfunction. Sometimes, a malfunction can be solved by unplugging the unit, I don't know if you've tried that alreay. If that doesn't work, you may have to inspect the unit internaly. When you are doing this, I suggest that you switch of the "MAIN POWER" button (if it does not work, unplug it) and when you remove the outside case, look to the left of the unit (make sure the unit's front pannel is facing towards you) and see if there are any disrupted wires running from the stand-by component. If there are any disrupted wires, do not attempt to hook them back up your self, unless you know what you are doing. If not, send it to electronics repair store if there is one nearby. Most commonly of all, your system may have been exposed to impact, such as falling, someone bumping into it, or even having a component laying directly on top of it, you will see in the system's manual that it states "no componen heavy or light weight can ever be plced on top of the reciever." this may not help much, but its the least I can do for you. But you are looking for a remote right? If it is the default remote (RM-S760), you can probably find it at Radio Shack or at Circuit City, Be sure to ask them the exact model type, or you can find it on eBay for at least $5.00
