Doesn't work with a fully charged battery

It will not turn on, (I went and bought a new battery thinking that could be it) and charged it but it will not turn on with the battery. It will turn on with electrical plug. So I don't know what to do. It is a relatively new camcorder. Got it last a year and half ago. Would like some help here.
