Sony Mavica CD200

Camera gives poor pictures at times, also error message: drive error

Since Christmas my camera (5 years old) has been giving pictures with poor lighting. You can hardly see subject. Friday, after taking pictures all day inside and out, I turned it off for a while, recharged it, then needed more pictures later. I took about 15-20 pictures inside and out and then it suddenly quit working. I have recharged and now it works fine. I haven't taken many more pictures. Frequently, the disc keeps rotating with "disc access" lit up. Can you help me. I am going out of town in 2 weeks and need to either fix it or buy a new camera, depending on the price and time involved.

I have the same camera and often get "drive error" when using it. Usually this can be resolved by turning off, then turning back on. Obviously this is a work around as the error returns. I have had the camera for approximately 6 or 7 years, and never have had it cleaned. I am wondering if this is my issue? Have you received any email regarding your original request for info? thanks
