Viewfinder inoperative, LCD screen closed.

Can someone help? It can record, play, edit, etc., but only with the LCD screen open. The viewfinder is blank/black (cover is off ;-) with the lcd screen open OR closed. Thanks, hopefully, in advance. Taps
