Help with 256 MB memory stick

I bought a new digital camera that came with a 32 MB memory stick. After taking the pictures, I was able to place the memory stick into the PC and see the pictures I had taken. Needing more memory, I bought a 256 MB memory stick for the camera which worked fine in the camera, but when I place the memory stick in the memory stick slot in my PC and press the memory stick icon in window explorer, all I get is an hour glass which causes me to reboot my PC. Already tried updating the memory stick driver. Any other advise or ideas??
