VHS casette rewinds when I place new DVD in to continue recording.

I have a model DR-MV1S DVD video recorder & video casette recorder. When recording VHS to DVD, when the DVD is full, I place a new DVD in recorder, when I try to record again, the VHS rewinds to the beginning. Can you please tell me what I am doing wrong? Thank You! Mark
