Help me get rid of these black bars on playback please

My GR-D290 JVC digital camcorder is displaying horizontal black bars on the LCD screen during playback. I have consulted the instruction manual and haven't had any luck finding the cause/cure. My wife told me that while using the camcorder she "touched a button" and everything went to the zebra stripe. Can anyone help me?
