Marantz tuner losing connection and wiping out stored stations

My radio tuner (Marantz) has recently started acting up. It seems to momentarily lose connection, return to standby mode, wiping all the stored stations from memory. Its very frustrating. Is this likely the fault of the tuner, the amp or the connection sockets? When I leave the whole lot unplugged for a day or so, it works fine for a few hours before acting up again. Don't want to spend cash on a new tuner if its something else. Any ideas?
