Picture drops out, bottom to top. Set then dead and standby light blinks.

6 year old tv started to lose the picture from bottom of screen towards the top. This process would recur more often over the last couple weeks, and now will come on only for less than a minute before it dies. Standby light blinks steadily at about 1 per second. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
