JVC GRD30U suddenly has "lens cap" warning message.

I have a GRD30U that has suddenly developed a lens cap error. The unit will play back fine, as long as it is a tape that was recorded prior to the lend cap error, or a tape recorded in another machine. This unit will no longer see an image.
