brent - 27th Apr 2006 23:44 INCREDIBLE!! One hard wack against the cassette side of the camera also worked for me. Maybe it was just designed that way. ha ha

gina - 15th Jun 2006 3:09 What worked for me was eject tape. close door. hit it on the left side (with view finder facing you). I found 2 fairly hard whaps with an open hand did the trick. Can't remember if camera was on or off (probably off)
hope this helps

Kim - 4th Nov 2006 17:23 I can't believe it but the whacking thing worked for me too. I haven't used this camera in a year because I've put off getting it fixed and now figured it would cost too much. Checking this forum was my last ditch effort and smacking it once firmly on the closed cassette side of the camera solved the problem. Thanks a million!

This also worked for me temperately
Does anyone know what would cause this and how to fix it permanently?

no, but seriously.... same model, same problem, came here, read about smacking it, smacked it once on the cassette side, now it works fine.
amazing!

Incredible! Add me to the list of those who have to smack the Hell out this camera just to get it to work right. Unbelievable! It must be one of the first techniques that are taught to the JVC technicians. You've got nothing to lose by trying it.
