Home theater No SOUND

I have a JVC TH-M505 5 disc home theater system. It was working great until my 2 year old jammed a DVD into one of the trays. It could not be repaired so I bought another receiver identical to my own (same model # and everything). I swaped the receivers but now I have no sound at all. The subwoofer does not power up. I had trouble with the system audio about a year ago when I bought the system and a JVC rep. told me a way to reset the system and do a self test by holding down some buttons and then pluging the receiver back in. It fixed the problem. Now when I call JVC noone seems to know %$#@ about anything or even how to operate the system. Does anyone have any suggestions or know how to reset the system. I have aso tried a different JVC subwoofer (It is a sub that I know works great because it belongs to a older JVC system that I have in my bedroom.)It is compatible with the new system but it does not power up with the new receiver either. ANY IDEAS??????

JVC-TH-M505.. have problems with it's subwoofers, have you check the cable from the receiver to the subwoofer for compatible they may have difference wiring within. the power is control via this cable. I have this same model and the sound cuts off when there is loud action part of the movie, it was in the shop for 4 weeks and they did NOT fix it.. so now I am stuck with the problem. JVC is no help at all..
