HomePanasonic NV DS65. Cassette case will not shut, "rattles" when switched on and power led blinks 3 short bursts then a pause, then after 50 seconds or so switches off. I suspect the dew sensor. When I received this camera it was very cold and went into a warm room - so dew may well have occurred. Kept it warm and it eventually worked. In addition the cassette loading mechanism would not close and none of the menu functions worked. The manual claims there is a dew sensor indicator, but have not seen this - though the lack of menus is indicated in the manual. Is this dew or a genuine fault? the camera has now been warm for over 24 hours and is still not working. Can I disable the dew sensor? Any one know?? many thanks

Hi there, I had the same problem with my DS65. I've tried to clean the jock but it didn't seem to help. However, I have been able to locate the problem and solve it for now. Thanks to Kirans' explanation, I have been able to locate the part which he calls "capston" (when you open the bottom cover this part is right from the head, it has some marking on it : VRDW0003 and below that it says : 3030. I have notice that, when "TAPE EJECT" is pressed this parts gear needs to move the one next to it. However, the "rattling" sound is produce by these 2 gears skipping. Therefore, I have notice that my "capstor" has 2 small screws which beacem loose and alow him to move away from the neighbouring gear. You can try to press "TAPE EJECT" and gently push the "capstor" in the direction of the gear. It worked for me perfectly. However, I have been able to tightenonly one of the 2 screws holding the "capstor" since the second one was hidden behind one of the gears and I wasn't even thinking of trying to remove the gears :). I have tightened one of them, the "capsotr" is now in place and my camera is functioning again:). Since I am from Bosnia and Herzegovina, there is no official shop that can repair cameras, I was already searching for new one on the eBay, but thanks to this forum, I have been able to solve this problem for now (I expect the screw to unloose sometimes in the future again). peace...ned p.s. if anyone needs additional info about this "repair" please feel free to contact me. Mr.Phil this is the common problem in NV-DS65 camera, u open bottom cover of u camera there is a mech connector jock , capston motor jock head amp jock and head drive jock. u clean the jock and push into the socket , u camera will work 100% After spending days with the dryer without any success, I opened the bottom of the camera and it was enough to troubleshoot this "condensation" problem. When I think about the amount the reseller would have charged me for sending this camera back to Panasonic for this 5 minutes fix... Glad that Pechorin's forum gave the courage to open this video camera. hi friend, u open camera clean mode switch jock and capston motor jock, u camera will work regards |
