Error Code "E02" on JVC VHS-C camera and camera won't run.

Error Code "E02" and mssg "Unit in safeguard mode" & Remove & Reattach Battery". The Camera is JVC VHS-C Model GR-SXM720. I'm thinking there is a depleated little battery hidden somewhere in the camera that needs replacement. On right side below strap and main battery I found a battery compartment to hold a button cell and it's empty. Can you help me or direct me to a JVC troubleshooting manual? Thanks.
