I think my PS2 is broken. On many games it freezes when I try to grip or push a handle.

Do I need to return my PS2? When I try to push a lever in certian areas of King Kong and Toney Hawk Underground 2, it won't work. I simply have to quit playing. Am I doing something wrong or is my PS2 broken.
