JVC Super VHS Camcoder can't auto focus

My JVC GR-SXM330U Super VHS Camcoder (serial # 076Q1177) can't auto focus. The auto focus works for about 5 seconds after turning to "A" or "M" mode but it then gets blurry and keeps trying to find focus but cannot. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
