Pentax Optio S5i LCD-exchange
Hi Jimmy,
I changed the LCD yesterday which took me about one hour. For this reason I bought a cheap 2nd Optio on Ebay which didn´t function, but the LCD was OK.
Just take your time when opening it, 6 screws - to open, then 1 screw on the left side (seen from behind) and pull a hook (below on same side) away to loosen the display gently. On the back side you have to solder two cables (easy to manage) for the backlight. Then open a clap (blue or black) for getting the LCD cable out of its position - done!
Do the same in the oposite direction with the new LCD, but mind, the only problem is to get the LCD-cable (width ca. 1 cm) into its Position (deep enough!) therefor oben the clap up to nearly 90° (handle with care! I had to do it twice).
The cam works perfect.
But now I want to get the second one with the now broken LCD repaired, because that one does not even turn on. I´ll have to send it to Pentax -
Regards Peter
P.S. First I asked Pentax GB for a new LCD - they charge 52 Pounds excl. shipping and tax
HAS ANYONE GOT AN IDEA ABOUT THE REASON IF AN OPTIO DOES NOT TURN ON????????
