Re: JVC service or questions

Paul Kelley Posted Jan 26, 2006, in response to:Stacy Sample

I recently bought a JVC RX-D402B AV Receiver with HTML I/O. I have a Panasonic DVD player attached via the component inputs and it works fine. My CATV converter is a Scientific Atlanta Explorer Model 8300HD with HD DVR and HDMI output. My problem is, when I connect the CATV video through either its component or HDMI output to the Receiver input, via either component or HDMI in, the result is a blank screen. The TV indicates "no input". When I connect the CATV to the receiver via S-video, it works, although at S-video picture quality. I can bypass the receiver, connecting the CATV directly to my TV via either component or HDMI, and it works fine. JVC warranty support told me my settings were correct, and that there were no reported compatibility issues. They sent me to the local warranty service contractor who could not test the HDMI sections, but told me my problem was probably a CATV converter setup issue. I performed the advanced setup procedure on the CATV and it made no difference. Can you help?
