About head cleaning of the JVC Camcorder

I have a JVC Camcorder Model GDR-70. While using it displayed "head cleaning required". Should i use a head cleaning casette or take it for service to a service centre, because i read head cleaning using the casette causes wear & tear of the head?. Can u please tell me what to do.
