I'm planning to use a Behringer C1 Condeser Mic for my Sony DCR-TRV30. Is this ok?

I'm planning to use a Behringer C1 Condeser Mic for my Sony DCR-TRV30. Is this ok? I asked the store rep that this mic is for studio recording only and needs Phantom power for it to work. Is he right? Isn't this just the usual Micrhone type that you plug on a PL plug of a sound system? Thanks...
