Malfunction or known problems with JVC GRD70

Hi Can anyone help me out? I have had my JVC video camera for a couple of years without problems but the last time i went to switch it on all i got was a grey screen when i looked through the EVF or the screen ...i tried recording and the tape played back the same grey image. I also have the flashing focus symbols to warn that it cant focus...i tried playing with the settings to no avail. As far as i know the videocamera hasnt been dropped and was just left inthe case since the last time i used it without problem. Has anyone else had this problem or know of any manufacturer malfunction of this variety. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards Jessica.
