I have the same problem and jvc wants $59 -$200 to repair. It worked 12/19 and stop 12/20. Video screen is sharp vertical lines and records these lines.

I have a contact from JVC that indicated JVC is aware of the problem, apparently a flaw with a batch of CCD chips. I have not contacted the California location to determine what, if anything beyond shipping they want to charge.
