GR-SXM245

I have a GR-SXM245 video recorder that is in safeguard mode with an E06 error code. The camera works fine when plugged in but this error appears when on battery. Could this be a simple battery problem or some worse? The battery does not seem to take a charge but would this create the message or is the problem preventing the charging of the battery?
