I need to reset my digital camera, Sony dsc-f505, to its factory settings.

I have a problem: the button that is used to increase the luminosity on the lcd doesn't work anymore, and a few days ago a friend decreased the luminosity until it reached minimum. Now I can't see what I'm capturing any more. Since I don't have enough time to get it to a service I tried to reset it myself(by removing the battery and switching the camera on for 15 seconds).This hasn't worked(maybe I did't do it right). I posted here hoping that someone will help me. Thank you!
