No picture when trying to record, but the screne is on and showing the numbers ect.

When I turn the videa camera on and try to record, the lcd screne lites up and all the numbers and things showing the date and everything works. The reminder to take the lense caps shows up (lens cap is off) and the screne is black with the manual focus message flashing and the lp hour and minutes lines flashing. What is the problem and where do I send it to get it fixed if needed???
