Sony 27' tv picure is dead....need advice whether to fix or replace w/another tv.

picture on my Sony 27" Trinitron TV died all of a sudden, yet still has sound. i am not very technically inclined, so need general advice on what it might be, and costs to fix (either a simple fix by me, or in a shop for more complicated repairs). could it be the picture tube finally died (11 yrs old, but not a day's problem with it before this)? thanks for any help you can provide (as i'm very new to this) !!
