can't get rid of CC

I got theis TV without original remote from a friend. How to I get the CC OFF? I read on other threads about a CC button on the remote. however, is this the only way? If I use the buttons on the actual set, I can get to the CC menu, but it only lets me select options, but not a way to turn it off. Are there universals I could buy which would duplicate the CC Button on the JVC remote.
