Help needed! My HT system has recently developed a problem and now only play DVDs but not CDs.

Can anyone advise me what may be the problem that has caused my Home Theater system (Model: Panasonic SC-HT700) to now only play DVDs without any problem but cannot read CDs. How best can this problem be solved BEFORE CHRISTMAS? Thanking you in advance.
