Problem with operating system??

Have you seen this before -- the LCD is black, but resetting doesn't do anything, and the LCD is turned on. Pictures i took before before the problem that are on the memory stick are still displayed. The camera still takes a picture -- the red focus light goes off, and the flash goes off, and it records a picutre on the memory stick but it is black. When i plugged it into the computer with the USB cable, the computer did not recognize the camera at all like it usually does, but it did recognize the memory stick and i was able to load the previously taken pictures from the memory stick on to the computer. Is this a problem with the operating system of the camera? can this be fixed?
