Re[2]: dead sony kp53hs10 big screen

I have a similar problem. My TV has always made a high-pitched scream before it warmed up (I've had it since about 2000). It also always had a blinky light error but I didn't know it was an error code till I just started doing some research. I just figured it was a signal indicator or something.
Anyway, now the high-pitched screaming doesn't go away, even after I hit it (it used to go away after hit the top of the set, I'm not lying). The error blink code is 5 blinks. The screen flashes blank (black) intermittantly, and when the picture comes back (after less than 1 second) the "video 3" label comes on, like I had just switched the video signal or something.
Anyone know what the problem could be? I feel dumb now because my TV set was obviously defective from day 1, but it worked fine and I never investigated the blinking light until it started giving me problems.
Thanks,

I have this set as well...it just went out today. I've heard this hissing sound for a few years now and just ignored it. Now I wonder why it won't even power up. I'm thinking the power supply board is bad. Any ideas?

Hello Ryan,
I have the exact same problems. Did you end up fixing your Sony KP-53HS10 TV?
Thanks,
Tony
