Error code E04 December 3, 2005

I have a JVC Camcorder Model # GR-SXM740. When I power up my camcorder, I get an error code E 04, Unit in safeguard mode. Remove and reattach battery. I did remove battery and got the same error. I even removerd battery for months and came back with the same error.
